My Background

Vala, a Canadian citizen since 1981, was born and raised in Hafnerfjordur, Iceland.  She has traveled extensively throughout her life strengthening her want for adventure and an appreciation for art and nature. 

Vala’s natural artistic talents are supplemented by years of formal training from institutions such as Flensborg College (Hafnerfjordur, Iceland), the University of Calgary (Calgary, Alberta), the College of Art and Interior Design at Mount Royal College (Calgary, Alberta) as well as numerous other related courses.

Vala’s artistic career has spanned many mediums, from Oil paintings to many forms of wood.  Vala’s creations have been extremely well received by friends, colleagues and the general public through private showings and Arts & Crafts Fairs.
